Kurt Boyd received his Bachelors Degree from the University of California at Los Angles (UCLA) and his Juris Doctorate from Southwestern University School of Law. He was admitted to practice in the courts of the State of California; in the United States District Court, Central District of California; and the United States Supreme Court, in 1979. Mr. Boyd began as an associate attorney with the Los Angeles office of Spray, Gould & Bowers in August, 1979, and stayed in that position until November, 1982. While so employed, he was a civil litigator in cases involving, products liability, construction accidents, premises liability, uninsured motorist and auto litigation. He handled all areas of litigation including all aspects of pleadings, discovery, law and motion, Arbitration and Trial. Between November, 1982 and May, 1995 Mr. Boyd was first an associate and (after 1985) a partner in the law firm of Liebman & Reiner; later Liebman, Reiner, Nachison & Walsh; and then Liebman, Reiner & Walsh. During this time period, as a partner in the firm, Mr. Boyd supervised both the firm�s Law & Motion; Appellate and Suspect Claims departments. He continued as a litigator, handling products liability; insurance coverage disputes; bad faith defense; construction litigation; premises liability; medical malpractice; uninsured motorist claims; and auto litigation, including but not limited to rental industry auto liability and coverage litigation. Representation of insurance companies; their insureds; governmental and self-insured entities. Mr. Boyd was lead counsel as Amicus for Enterprise Rent-A-Car in the appellate case of Interinsurance Exchange, etc. v Spectrum Investment Corp.(1989)209 Cal. App. 3d 1243. He also successfully represented Workmen�s Auto Insurance Company in the appellate decision of Sadie C. Kates v Workmen�s Auto Insurance Co. (App. 1996 ) 52 Cal.Rptr. 852 In May, 1995, Mr. Boyd left to form the law firm of BOYD & ERICKSEN, practicing in the areas of litigation, subrogation, and coverage. In 2002, the firm became THE LAW OFFICES OF KURT BOYD. Professional presentations include, 1989 Developments in Rental Law--Car and Truck Rental Leasing Association Guest Speaker; 1992-Trying the Automobile Injury Case in California--National Business Institute Inc.; 1995-Trying the Automobile Injury Case in California--National Business Institute Inc. Professional affiliations have included the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel; the Defense Research Institute; the Los Angeles County Bar Association; and the San Fernando Valley Bar Association. Our firm is an �insurance defense� firm with the caveat that we represent as many self insured entities as carriers. We have been doing defense work for the last twenty (20) years. In that time, we have handled most if not all of the types of liability claims insurable, and in particular, auto liability policy claims. We pride ourselves on personalized handling and effective cost control. We have flexibility in our approach to file handling, and the ability to define and design our file handling to meet your company�s needs. We are actively interested in broadening our client base. Geographically, we represent clients in all State and Federal Courts in the southern half of California, with the capacity to appear in State and Federal Courts throughout the State.
