Additional Information
Steve has worked with Ericksen Arbuthnot for more than 11 years, and opened the firm's Bakersfield office in May, 2000. He is Co-Chair of the Business Transactions practice group.
Steve provides legal services primarily focused on real estate, business and estate matters, and he is also a full-fledged trial lawyer, with extensive experience throughout California in both state and federal courts. His trial experiences have ranged from a complex multi-million dollar insurance coverage dispute to serious casualty losses, deeply affecting all parties concerned. Additionally, he has done extensive work in creditor rights, and has appeared in bankruptcy courts throughout the state.
Steve views his legal work as a source of information, expertise and counsel. It is his view that a client's interests must always come first. His daily goal is to avoid litigation, whenever possible, and when he cannot, Steve works hard to bring matters to a swift, cost-effective resolution.
His wide experience in business transactions, real estate, civil trial, insurance, estates and business formation puts him in a position to understand even the most complex matters, yet he is able to communicate legal concerns in everyday language, to everyday people.
He is deeply engaged in business and civic life. He is a 13-year Rotarian, and past member of the Boards of both the Boys and Girls Club of Kern, and the City Schools Educational Foundation. He has volunteered many hundreds of hours of time with diverse community groups including the Rotary as School Chairman, City Schools' "Rolling Readers" and "Site Council," Kern High School District's "Principal for a Day," and the Tree Foundation of Kern.
