John Izzo

I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1990 and my law degree from the University of Akron School of Law in 1993. I began my legal career with the Champaign County Child Support Enforcement Agency in Urbana, Ohio. I then spent three years as an enforcement coordinator for the State Medical Board of Ohio. I spent the next three years as an Assistant Ohio Attorney General, representing numerous agencies, including the Ohio State Racing Commission, the Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board, the Motor Vehicle Salvage Dealer Licensing Board, the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, and the Division of Securities and Division of Financial Institutions at the Department of Commerce. After a year and a half as Chief Counsel for the Division of Financial Institutions, I became the Deputy Director and Legal Counsel for the Ohio State Racing Commission, the agency that regulates horse racing in Ohio at seven commercial racetracks and over sixty county fairs. I am now in private practice at Graff & McGovern LPA. I was also a hearing officer for the Ohio Department of Health. I am admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and all state courts in Ohio. I am a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, and a member of the Administrative Law, Agricultural Law, Animal Law, Family Law, Juvenile Law, and Sports and Entertainment Law Committees. Graff & McGovern routinely represent licensed healthcare professionals at the State Medical Board of Ohio; Ohio Board of Nursing; Ohio State Chiropractic Board; Counselor, Social Worker & Marriage and Family Therapist Board; Ohio State Dental Board; Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Trainers Board; Ohio State Board of Pharmacy; State Board of Psychology of Ohio; Ohio Veterinary Medical Licensing Board.
