Barry T. Simons has spent the last 28 YEARS specializing in defending DUI cases in all Courts in Orange County California. His cases include successful challanges in both trial and appellate courts to DUI Roadblocks; Preliminary Alcohol Screening Tests (PAS Tests); DMV Procededures and practices; and refusals of chemical tests.
Within the past year, he has successfully challanged the Irvine Police Department's practice of compelling blood tests from DUI arrestees in NELSON V CITY OF IRVINE.
Mr. Simons was also responsible for exposing the Orange County Crime Lab's use of an unlicensed breath test device in 4700 DUI cases in TRAUTMAN V DMV.
Mr. Simons has presented his cases and lectured at seminars for DUI Attorneys throughout the the United States on subjects including scientific evidence, legal motions, DMV practice and proceedure and the Interstate Implications of DUI License Suspensions.
Mr. Simons is the former President of the South Orange County Bar Assn. and served on the Bd. Of Directors of the Orange County Bar Assn. He is a Founding Member and current Regent of the National College of DUI Defense and a Member of the Bd. of Directors of the Assn of California Deuce Defenders. He is also an Editorial Consultant to Ed Kuwatch's treatise on California Drunk Driving Law.
