What is the legal babysitting age in Maryland? My son is 14, I need him to watch my 11 year old for a couple hours, is this legal?

Generally children above 13 can babysit in this state (assuming that it does not involve overnight supervision). A child above 8 can be legally left alone without a babysitter for brief periods of time although it is not always prudent to do so. One practical tip is to enroll the older child in a babysitting safety course (often offered at county libraries and the like).
