My practice is limited to the defense of criminal charges and related criminal appeals and writs.
I have been exclusively engaged in criminal defense since 1973. I learned my trade as a
Deputy Public Defender but after six years opened my private practice of law. I have also
served in several cases as a special prosecutor. For three years, I taught law related classes
at the University of California - Irvine and for twelve years was an instructor at the National
College on Narcotic Drugs (United States Department of Justice). During 1980-1982,
I served as a Commissioner of the Orange County Superior Court sitting in Juvenile Court.
I have tried several hundred criminal cases to jury verdict. I have handled more than 40
homicide cases. Eighteen of those murder cases were death penalty defenses. None of my
clients ended up on death row. Only two are serving life without parole. Many were
acquitted and many received lesser verdicts.
My primary office is now back in Huntington Beach but I service Riverside and San Bernardino
counties and occasionally, with grumbles, Los Angeles and even San Diego.
