An abstract of judgment only creates a lien against property the judgment debtor owns in the county in which it is recorded. The second step which will allow a judgment creditor to levy a bank account is to obtain a writ of execution - that then gets served upon the bank, and the bank must then deliver to the judgment creditor the funds on account in the judgment debtor's name. Gibbs is wrong. Writs of execution only attach a judgment lien to real property owned or later acquired by the judgment debtor in the counties in which they are recorded.
