Legal Question

I was assaulted at a bar and the person who assaulted me claims that i was hitting on his girlfriend before he assaulted me but that's completely untrue. I am now suffering from ptsd from the incident and am wondering if his false accusation is going to affect a law suit that I might have to bring up against him. Can you give me an answer?
