registration of Wills in India

No it is not compulsory to get registeration of Will executed for the property in India. however if The Will is registered by executant is at the same legal footing as an unregistered Will if any of these are challenged as forged or fabricated. The person who wants to take benefit under the Will of Deceased testator has to prove both the Wills as per the Evidence Act, by calling attesting witnesses or at least one of the attesting witnesses in witness box to prove the signatures of testator.
