I filed bankruptcy almost 7 years ago. It should have come off of my credit report in January of 2012. I heard that the laws have since changed and that it is now 10 years before it comes off of a credit report. Is there any way I can get it off after 7 years since that was the law when I filed?

I am not sure who advised you that a bankruptcy "comes off" your credit report in seven years, but they are incorrect. At the seven year mark after the date it was reported, the individual creditors must stop reporting that their debt was "Discharged in Bankruptcy." The seven years only applies to the report of discharge by the individual creditors. The Public Record of your having filed bankruptcy stays on your credit report for 10 years. That item cannot "come off" your credit report until 10 years have elapsed. I hope this helps.
