Legal Question

My husband was hurt on the job and recived medical attention from November 2010 untill last week May 13th 2011 last week the doctor told him he will be given permanent partial disability of 6% and the workmans comp case worker/nurse told him he would get a check. Will that prevent him from getting further medical care if needed and how do they figure the check amount out.
