Your rights depend upon a few factors, like, were you paying rent or was there an agreement that you would contribute to household expenses - any form of consideration given for staying in the home makes you a tenant, and the usual rules for eviction would apply (they couldn't lock you out without notice, a lawsuit and the Sheriff performing the lockout). You provide too little information. Ordinarily, guests can be "kicked out" by their host, but the right to do that is based on the host's right of possession. Who is trying to kick you out? The relative? The relative's landlord? Another family member? What does the hospitalized relative say?
