The question is to vague to be answered. At minimum you need to tell us the manner in which you inherited, e.g. are you a surviving joint tenant? a named beneficiary of a retirement plan or life insurance policy? a beneficiary of a will or trust?
Generally, it is the duty of the person (executor or trustee) to distribute assets to the beneficiaries and get receipts of distribution signed by the beneficiary. If assets are neglected for too long they can eventually escheat to the State as unclaimed. |
