I need more info: how old is he, has he ever worked, what are the assets?
SSI is a needs-based, welfare program. Persons with assets or income over certain levels cannot qualify.
If he has worked, he may be eligible for a Disability Insurance Benefit.
Understand that a diagnosis is not enough, his illness must be so severe that he cannot perform any substantial work.
