i am an individual starting an online training site. for that i would look to go for a campaign in crowdfunding site "www.indiegogo.com" based in usa and they have india in their supporting countries list. is it illegal to get money from crowdfunding from foreign ?

No, it is perfectly legal to get money from crowdfunding from any foreign country / countries to launch your product or service campaign in India.

you have to show link of business like services provider ,then you have to get money from foreign countries with approval from different organisation.
