Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in India

I have recieved an email from a lawyer claiming to be representing the bank. As per his e-mail they will be initiating Civil & Criminal case If i do nt payback the money. I have not had a transaction on this credit card for over 6 years and the lasttime i was getting harrased by the collection agencies I had sent an email to their ombudsman asking for the harrasment to be stopped(In the email i had mentioned that I had taken this debt however i was planning to payoff once my financial hardships are over).
1)Can someone explain If a civil/crimial case be initiated against me?
2)What will the consequences be in case fo any civil/criminal case initiated against me?
3) I do not stay at the address that was updated with the bank and have moved so I have never recieved any legal notice and only recieved an email so is this also considered to be valid?
