Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in India

I had a Standard Chartered Credit Card in 2008 and the same was closed & blocked in 2010. According to my knowledge all the dues were paid. In mid 2014 I started getting calls to clear some dues of approximately Rs.5000/-. I have been requesting for statement of account which the Bank says they can not provide since the card has been blocked. I requested to settle the accounts since I don't want my credibility to get affected. The bank refuses to advise me the principal amount and to provide the statement. They are advising that I should pay the dues in full & if I try to settle they can only reduce Rs.700/- which will go into the settlement account & may affect the credibility. Please advise.

Dear Sir / Madam,

If you have the Statement of A/c and the Payment Receipt for having settled all outstanding dues on your Credit Card, simply provide a copy of it with a covering letter to the nearest Branch of Standard Chartered. If not approach the Bank to issue you a final settlement amount letter on your Credit Card, and pay it off and settle it by obtaining a Payment Receipt from the Bank.

Regards,
