Good Day Law guru

I would like to enlighten you and seek your advice as well,

I am been represeted by a law firm on a fraud case and feel that my attorney taking me for a ride and milking me dry,

On intial agreement with the bail hearing a figure of 5 k was requested and the terms was that I would have representation for the duration of the case,

Now after my attorney has requested succesfully the case to be postponed a couple of times without consulting with me he now requests 2k for consultation,

How do I approach this going forward

Unfortunately, it is a fact that legal representation is expensive. In addition, it is probably the ultimate grudge expense - having to pay legal fees for representation in a dispute that is not of your making.

In your situation, I would suggest you have a frand discussion with your attorney and get a commitment in writing from him how he will charge you for the matter in terms of hourly and/or daily rates. It is also unavoidable that the matter will be postponed a number of times during the course of proceedings. These postponements are part of the system and not your attorney's fault.

However, if after your discussion with your attorney, you still feel that you are being overcharged, give my colleague a call: Gys Niesing, 084 593 2341 or [email protected]. He does mainly criminal litigation and may be able to assist you.

Best of luck,
