Once you have selected a child you need to make an application to court for adoption, once court allows you can take the child with you. The process needs a professional legal help, and may not be done by an individual not qualified to do as that would result in unnecessary delay and may result in rejection by court.

Adoptive parent and the institution or the donor parent have to join in application, in this reagrd.

For taking a child in adoption, you have to take the consent of the parents and an adoption deed is executed, which requires registration and thereafter you have to undergo the procedure, which results in to completiton of the adoption procedure. Indian law has no provisions for foreigners to adopt Indian children; however, under the Guardian & Wards Act of 1890, foreigners may petition an Indian District Court for legal custody of a child to be taken abroad for adoption. Following a decision by the Indian Supreme Court in 1984, non-Indians are required to work through an adoption agency in their home country that is licensed in accordance with local laws and appears in the list of agencies approved by the Indian Government. Only an Indian agency recognized and listed by the Indian Government may make children available for adoption by foreigners. You may also consider getting help from an Indian Attorney to assist you in obtaining custody.

You may also consider the Intercountry Adoption Act of 2000 enacted by the Hague Convention on protection of children and co-operation in respect of intercountry adoption; France has also implemented the provisions of the Act.

With regard to Adoption and taking the child to France, you will have to First come to India and then either at Bangalore, Bombay or Delhi or any other major cities you have to approach the Adoption Centres, the names and address of these adoption centers are available in Yellow Pages of the Telephone Directory, or you can enquire from the Hotel Desk to help you to locate the Adoption Centres address.

Approach a lawyer who is practicing in this line of adoption. The lawyer will guide you and probably tell you the address.

You have to Visit the Adoption center and convey your wishes of adopting the Child from their center.

Choose the Child from the Adoption center.

Approach the police Department and give your details of your Paris Address, and if any known person in India.

File a petition in the court by seeking the help from the lawyer you have approached.

After filing it will take some two or three months if the child is grown, then the court will pass an order to take the child once the court is convinced that you will look after the child very well. Afterwards you can proceed to your place.
