Legal Question in Employment Law in India

Hai.. I had a question.. I was working as a lecturer now I resigned from job. I didn't have any appointment letter or anything. I pledge my original degree certificate. Now they are asking 2 months salary to give originals back. Is their any solution to take originals back without giving salary. But dont have any proof for pledging the originals

Dear Sir / Madam,

The College or institution has no legal right whatsoever to hold your original certificates. In fact, it is a criminal offence to hold back original certificates of an employee. You should write to the College Principal to immediately release your original certificates failing which you should report the matter to the Police for action.
