my notice period as per my terms of employment/offer letter is 1 month , after an year of my employment company increased my annual income with a note in my increment letter that your notice period has been increased to 2 months ..company did not issue a new contract for it and neither i signed any document .. after a year of release of increment later company claims that my notice period has been changed to 2 months..as per the law what should be the notice period duration the one mentioned in the contract or the one mentioned in my increment letter.?...really perturbed because of extension of notice period.. company wants me to serve for 2 months..after i resigned

Dear Sir / Madam,

The notice period as stipulated in your original first letter of appointment of 1 month will prevail till the time you are in service of the Company. The Company cannot later increase the notice period to 2 months. It is better you refuse to sign any letter specifically accepting the increase in notice period. Better still, you should specifically put it in writing to the Company that your originally agreed notice period of 1 month will prevail.
