Legal Question in Employment Law in India

hello, my query is, I recently resigned from a institution and got into new institution. But i couldt serve notice period for my previous insitution. since time was too short, and i have evidence for that. My new institution job got confirmed just in a span of two days after my interview. But now in order to join new institution i need relieving letter which i dont have. but i resignation letter signed by previous institution, In order to get relieving order they are asking me to pay three months salary back, which a big amount. so is there anyway that i can claim the amount later thru law if i pay it now for the sake of relieving order.
