Legal Question in Employment Law in India

I have worked with a company for approx six months without any appointment letter or any other means of legal recruitment which could cover my risks. After working in very tough condition i realized that i cant work with this company and informed them over phone that i wont be able to work anymore . I didnt had any catalog or any document stating about notice or any contract paper signed but the problem is they forcefully deducting my one month salary on ground that i didnt gave them notice.. They didnt even bother me to inform that if i would not be working following steps wil be taken.. They say u must give prior info before leaving the company atleast 1 months.. And i am saying i dnt hv any appointment letter or any contract why should i resign by giving notice.. Plz help me in this matter. I am really in big problem...

It was wrong on your part to have worked in the Company without any proof of employment like the Appointment Letter. In the absence of any documentary proof, you will need to serve the notice period of one month in the Company.
