Legal Question in Legal Ethics in India

Hello,

I was selected by a big IT Services company as employee during campus recruitment drive in my college. The company provided me with internship, and after completing the same I would have to sign a service level agreement and accept the employment with the same company. My internship with the company was not a fruitful one as I was put on project bench and never ever given any project related assignment.

This continued for my whole internship period (April-10 to August 13).

After the last day of my internship, I was to be inducted into company as a full time employee, but only after signing a service level agreement, which stated that if I leave the company before stipulated time of 14 months I will be liable to pay the company 75000 INR. As the company was really big, I thought that may be then I would get to do some work and hence signed the service level agreement, seeking a good career beginning. But I was wrong. I was put into third project meanwhile and was again on the project bench. After taking 2 and half months of more of this mental torture of not getting any work, I decided to resign and not pay any compensation to the company as I did not see why I should, because it was utter waste of my time, my skills.

I resigned in a proper way and served only few days of my notice period which was of one month and stopped going to the office. I did not reply to any of the mails or communications from the company.

Now, after four months I have been given a notice to pay the money or else a legal action will be taken.

I just need to know, what are the legal actions that can be taken. I am ready to pay the notice period shortfall amount, but not the bond amount.

I just need guidance on what are the possibilities and what can be done.

Thanks.
