Legal Question in Disability Law in Alabama

handicap access

I have a family member that is a teacher in Staten Island New York at a private school. the building is a 2 story building and her class is on the second floor. She just got done with radiation treatment and her left side is still very weak. There is no other way to get to her class except up 2 flights of stairs. this is very hard and causes a hardship on her. is there a law in this area that requires handicap access to the second floor or even the first floor entering the building?

Re post and ask for New York law, not Alabama law.
