Legal Question in Criminal Law in Alabama

jailed,Probation Violation no bond

I need to know what the laws about violating probation are, and if someone is being held in jail for violation ( didnt take a class= violation) can they be held for 6 months ? I aslo need to know that if there was a '' No Bond '' sentence, are there ways to get that changed to a bond of any sort ? Also, the case itself 7 years old, They were never looking for him, however when he found that there was problem, he went on his own to fix it, voluntarily, and they kept him. If he is kept there the entire 6 months, he will lose everything. Job, cars , house, etc. I really need some advice on what to do, Thank you.

Re: jailed,Probation Violation no bond

a petition to violate a persons probation can be filed by the prosecuting authority for many reasons including failing to attend a court ordered class. usually on a probation violation writ the bond is set at a "no bond" status. an attorney can petition the court to set a bond in this situation. if such a petition is filed it is argued before the court and the court decides whether to set at bond. it sounds like you need to hire an attorney to try and get a bond set so that you can have a chance to correct the missed class and try and convince the judge to continue you on probation
