Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

back child support and current child support

My husband and his ex-wife have been divorced for about 10 yrs now and have a 12yr old daughter. In their orignal divorce document he owed $70wk. Somewhere in the mix of things and job hopping on my husbands part and her moving and loosing touch for several year on both their ends, him he owes several grand. They decided to go outside of the courts w/ the C.S thinking it would be easier on the child and She didnt want to get paid once a month. But when they got back in touch he had began paying $80 a week. Things have happened in our personal life since we got married 2yrs ago that sometimes our payments arent as consistant as desired. But he HAS been paying as much as possible. Well now she wants to go to a lawyer and get it back in the system. What might happen w/ the back child support owed and current situation since it has not been deducted out of his check in many years? What is suggest on how we go about handling this matter? What could happen? Do we need to go to a lawyer before her or wait and see what she comes up w/ first and then take steps from that?

You should be prepared to gather up your old receipts and check stubs.
