Wage Garnishment from two states

I was ordered to pay child support in alabama and now tennessee has ordered my wages garnished along with the garnishment from alabama. Is this legally possible? What are my rights because I stopped paying in alabama and now face a contempt of court charge! Thank you!

Re: Wage Garnishment from two states

you should not have to pay child support two times for the same child. you need to retain an attorney to advise each court of the action of the other and make sure that you are paying the proper amount of child support.
