Cival law pertaining to Shoplifting in Alabama .

If caught shoplifting in Alabama is the merchant entitiled to $200 even though the item stolen was retailed at under $5.00. Under a civil statue. This has nothing to do with the criminal charges.

there is statutory authority in alabama allowing merchants to recover civil damages for shoplifting in their store. the value of the merchandise is considered a part of the damages as well as other items of damage. please contact an attorney for further consultation on this matter as time is of the essence in all litigation
