my husbands father died in 2004 my husband was his fathers only biological child. My husbands father has 3.14 acres of land shouldnt my husband be able to get it? what do we need to do to see who has been paying taxes on it and what right they have to the land

The real question is did he have a will? And, even so, was there a living wife and other siblings, even adopted ones count? If he did not have a will, then it would be important to find out if an estate was ever opened in the probate court to decide the question of what portion belongs to your son. If there was a surviving wife, the deed may have stated rights of survivorship to the wife. If not, then it would be necessary to probate the estate.
