Re: estates

In Alabama there are statutes that give specific direction regarding the administration of an estate. Technically every estate should go through the probate court but realistically this doesn't happen. Also if a person only has personal belongings and no real estate or bank accounts, many people simply divvy up the stuff and move on. I am not advocating this choice, only telling you what I have seen. Call your local probate judge's office and speak to one of the clerks there. She can give you helpful advice free of charge.
