Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona

I just got a drinking in public ticket this weekend in arizona by the campus police. This is my first ever offense and I am unable to make my court date. The ticket takes 10 days to get into the system and I will be back home in Idaho before then. What are my options in this situation?

Either you or an attorney on your behalf needs to appear in court. If you retain counsel, he/she can appear on your behalf and do whatever is necessary to obtain the necessary documentation concerning your case, advise, you and then pursue the road you choose to take. You should contact and retain counsel.

Your first hearing in a misdemeanor case is usually an arraignment. If you retain an attorney, the attorney can generally get you out of having to appear at the hearing. Sometimes the court will continue the hearing to another date if you file a motion to continue. You may have a restriction on traveling out of state. You may want to consider filing a motion to modify release conditions as well.
