Legal Question in Criminal Law in Arizona

hindering prosecution?

i had a visit from a vague acquaintence from out of town recently whom stayed at my home for a few hours, then supposedly returned to their home in yavapai county(I live in phx.)After their departing, I left my home for most of the day, shopping, etc. Later on in the eve. I had phoenix p.d. at my door, demanding I allow access of my home to them? Appears the individual was wanted on charges out of Yavapai county; they had been told he was here(my home) The p.d. said they had warrant for ind. arrest but would not show me thru door...also said they would get a search warrant for my home if necc. I told them I had no problem cooperating, but due to time of night didn't want family disturbed...wanted to contact an att. 1st before opening door. Return call from att. took 2 hours. They advised dealing/cooperating but with minimal officers- called local precinct to ask t6hat only 1 or 2 come in. Then advisedp.d. (thru door) I was opening. During subsequent search of my home and surroundings, this individual was discovered hiding in my attic thru the garage,-when apprehended, he told officers that he had returned while I was gone that day and hidden. I was taken to jail for hindering prosecution in the 1st degree and taken to jail HELP

Re: hindering prosecution?

A.R.S. 13-2512 B. Hindering prosecution in the first degree is a class 5 felony 6 months to 2.5 years in prison. Typically attorneys do not advise cooperating with the police. This offense can not be proven unless the government has evidence that you knew the person was a fugitive.
