Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

Child Abandment!!!

I am a step-mother of 2 teenage children. There father as had custody of them for over 10 years. There mother took him to court and wanted cutody of them. The court ordered that we take them to their moms house for 2 1/2 months. We did this. Now it was her turn to come get them and she has not even showed up one time. My family has the opportunity to go be inner city missionaries again in another state. We want to take the kids with us and offered her 2 full months to have the kids. The county that we are going to court in does not have any jurisdiction...can we take the kids with us and not get into a battle with her. She has paid no child support and hardly ever calls the kids or anything. I have been raising them for the past 5 years and love them with all my heart. They don't want to go to her house. What should we do. I need some advice. Can someone please help me. I just want some information on what to do. If you can help...Please let me know. Thank You! Consurned Step Mom

You certainly have described a case in which certain things can be done. We can discuss either a modification of her rights, a petition for relocation, and/or an overall termination of her parental rights.

I can explain the issues and procedures better by phone or in person. As you can imagine, there is too much to cover via e'mail. We offer free 1/2 hour consultations, in which we can discuss the matter in more detail.

Please call me directly to discuss the specifics of your case, or contact my assistant Audrey to schedule a free 1/2 hour consultation. I look forward to talking with you.
