Legal Question in Family Law in Arizona

My ex wife has custody of my daughter and I have court ordered visitation. She has sent my daughter to live with her parents in Washington state without any notice to me or the court. I did not and do not agree to this. I have been denied any rights as a parent and the custody papers clearly state that they can not move more than 50 miles away without permission of the court. What do I do? Is this a criminal matter or do I need to go through the process of modifying custody through the family court which could take months if not longer?

Under the limited circumstances you described, you may need to file a Petition to Prevent Relocation, asking the court to order that your daughter return to Arizona, and for whatever other relief is appropriate under the circumstances. I recommend you contact an attorney to discuss this matter in greater detail. We offer a free initial consultation and can speak with you to help you determine your best course of action.
