Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Arizona

I have painted 2 pictures with pictures of painting I down loaded on the internet. I now want to donate those painting to a gallery to benefit a non profit organization ( a church ministry). Will I be in copyright violation? Do I need a interior decor license? Or another type? I have attempted to inquire from the orignial artist-with no response. If I report them as reproductions not originals would I be in violation? Any suggestions?

It is likely this would be considered a derivative work and thus protected by copyright law. Copyrights do not only pertain to originals and paintings, but to any derivative work from these works. You would likely be in violation if you posted the image on your web site. If you would like to read more I have included a link.
