Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Arkansas

Is this defamation?

I worked for a company that did an investigation on me for fraudulent activity. Nothing was discovered but I was terminated ''with-out cause'' which is a right they maintain in my contract. That has all been handled but my old management has told to or three co-workers of mine that I was going to prison. Of course they called me and they know this is untrue. This is ruining my reputation. I sent a letter warning that I would sue for defamation if they continued to slander and it still has not stopped. I want to do this a affordable as possible as I am without a job. But what do I ask for and do I have a case.

Re: Is this defamation?

You may have a case. However, defamation is difficult to prove. If you can prove it, you also have to prove some harm to get very much from it.

You may want to contact an attorney in your area. If you have a good case, some attorneys would work this for you on a contingency basis. This means they take a percentage of whatever settlement or judgment you get, but you don't have to pay anything up front.
