Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Arkansas

I bought a house 22 years ago, i am trying to sell it now and the recent survey says it was partially built on someone else's land. The owner is now asserting their rights to the land as she wants to buy the house but someone else asked first. I did not find out that i was on her land until I started this process. The house was built by Jim Walter homes who is now out of business and I can't find an original survey in my paperwork. I have made substantial improvements to the land since having my house built and have maintained the property well.

There are a number of legal arguments that might lead you to full ownership of the disputed land or at least compensation for the improvements. Also, you may have some recourse against a title insurer or other party involved with the construction or sale. The most effective arguments will vary depending on the specifics of your situation. I recommend that you contact an attorney to discuss your options.
