Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in California

My mother died in 2010. My brother and sister did not inform me of her death, and I believe this was done to conceal her will contents from me. Do I have any legal recourse?

You may have recourse. Your question raises more questions than answers. You really need to have a discussion with an attorney. You can do this by phone.

Some questions raised are whether your mother owned property. If so, what type of property and approximately what value.

Did you mother have a trust, a will or both? Did you receive any written notices about her death?

Did she own real property like a house or condo?

Let me know if you would like to discuss this.

You can get some answers on your own by taking the street addresses of each piece of real estate she owned to a title company near where she was living at the time of her passing, and having them pull up copies of the last deeds of record on each parcel. That would tell you if title was still in her name or had been transferred into a trust. The attorney for the trust would have put her name in the upper left hand corner of the deed, giving you a lead as to who to contact.

Look at all the attorneys who are interested in your mother's property!

If you had visited your mother more often, you would have known early on when she died.
