Legal Question in Personal Injury in California

Hello, i have a question regarding a car accident I had about 2 months ago. I lost control of my van after my tired popped and i hit a parked car and ended up hitting the front of a small business also. The front of the business was damaged (glass windows, the metal door that protects the front of the store). We recently received a letter from the other insurance of the charges we have to pay and they seemed a little too much for us. I should say we only had liability insurance on my van. I been trying to get in touch with my insurance but always gets sent to voicemail. It seems like the other insurance has not had any luck getting in touch with my insurance. Do you think we need a lawyer to see if all the charges we are getting are right? Maybe ask for proof? They seem too much. Can we do anything against our insurance if they dont respond to our case?

Do you think we need a lawyer to see if all the charges we are getting are right? Maybe - although if you have a legitimate insurance company, one would expect them to look into that.

Your liability policy is supposed to cover situations like this. Are you trying to call your agent or your insurance carrier directly? You should send a certified return receipt letter to the carrier (keep a copy) with all of the information about the accident, and tell them that you want them to investigate and pay for the damages the accident caused. Of course, if you can't get hold of the carrier, a lawyer should get involved.

What do you mean that your tire popped? Did someone improperly secure it to the wheel? You might have a case against a repair shop because of the tire, as well, including the damage to your own vehicle.
