Legal Question in Disability Law in California

access to school handicap parking

I would like to know if there are any laws which state my rights as a disabled person, as far as being told I could not park in handicap parking at my sons school to check him into the attendance office, because it was before school and the buses use that area. I was directed to another parking area which was entirely too far for me to physically walk to the attendance office. They would not let me enter the handicap parking. I have disabled plates on my car.

Bus parking does not pre-empt disability discriminaiton laws. If this is a continuing practice you may want to pursue a claim. You should seek advice from a local attorney with experience in disability discrimination in public accomodations.
