Inheritance for Disabled on SSI

If a 23 year old mentally disabled male living in California who's collecting SSI for being bi-polor and has a caretaker suddenly deposits a $100,000 inheritance check into his savings account will the government take away his monthly $600 SSI check? If so, what options would he have?

Re: Inheritance for Disabled on SSI

SSI is a means based program sort of like a welfare program. As such, if the recipient has $100K in his account, then he's longer a poor person lacking in means. Therefore, he will lose his SSI benefits.

The caretaker should put the money in his/her account.
