Legal Question in Disability Law in California

possession of marijuana

i have been charge with posession of marijuana but i was charged couple years ago wit DUI but i got it reduced to an infraction but i believe that i might still have the probation following DUI in place. What is can happen and what would happen if i just got a public defender.

Re: possession of marijuana

Everyone's terms of probation are supposedly individualized and different. In practice, quite a few very standard clauses seem to be written in with high regularity. One of these is "Obey all laws." So, if you break any law, you are automatically violating the terms of your probation.

I was a law clerk in a county Public Defender's office for about three years while working my way through night law school. I had an opportunity to observe the abilities, ambition and interests in the various deputy public defenders I worked with. Some of them were a bit lazy, some were not too bright, but most were very dedicated, hard-working and enthusiastic lawyers who worked very hard on behalf of our clients to make sure we didn't get repeat business!

One of the first things the Public Defender's office should do is, of course, verify whether you were still a probationer at the time of your arrest.

I'd recommend going with the Public Defender; it'll probably be free and they have lots of experience with cases just like yours.
