Legal Question in Banking Law in California

Direct Deposit

I had signed up for direct deposit at my company. I received one payroll check in my account and then I decided to stop direct deposit. Since then, all my checks were given to me. However, this last pay period my check was direct deposited. The company I am with was bought out by another company and switched to their payroll. Anyway, when I told them I did not request direct deposit they told me it cannot be reversed unless I have the amount of the check in my account (which I don't). This is not my fault as I had stated I did not want direct deposit anymore. They are basically saying I won't get paid. My account is overdrawn to where if the deposit does go through I will not have any check. Anything I can do? Please help..

Re: Direct Deposit

I don't understand the purpose or the point of your question. Although you may not have wanted direct deposit, mistakes happen. To make your employer reverse the deposit and issue a paper check so you can deposit the money back in your account seems rather odd.

You had the money, you wrote checks and against it that is that. Hopefully the error will be corrected by the next pay period, but you already spent some of the money from your paycheck.
