Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

California. Looking for an informed opinion on this please. Not legal advice, just an informed opinion.

A longtime client of mine is in the final stages of Bankruptcy and suddenly 2 people show up and demand the servers. There is continual contact between the company, lawyers and the bankruptcy trustee. There was nothing more than a credential to identify themselves. They arrived totally out of the blue and threatened the bookkeeper with jail if she did not comply immediately. I was 2 hours away so a former employee was brought in to do a data dump that had to be completed immediately,

I would have prevented this action were I present.

Was it legal to make such an urgent demand and threat of incarceration without any documentation?

I think not. Without a court order or a warrant, I would never let any information leave my office. Please visit my web site for more at: nopainbk.com.
