Re: Cleaning My Credit after 7 years?

Unfortunately, under the Consumer Credit Reporting Reform Act of 1996, as well as its predecessor, the Fair Credit Reporting Act, bankruptcy information can remain on your credit report 10 years from the date of filing.

Though 10 years have not elapsed, if your current credit report reflects creditors that you received a discharge after your bankruptcy with entries other than bankruptcy filed on that particular account, you can dispute that entry. This is helpful in re-establishing credit (though of course not a guarantee)

Best of Luck,
