Legal Question in Bankruptcy in California

My tax refund was sheduled to be deposited to a prepaid bank card. I never received the card in mail. (we have a problem w mail theft) I called card company and asked if a new card could be mailed to my sisters address..the Co. said they would send a new card express mail..i never received that card so I called them and they said they needed me to mail them a photo cooy of my ID and a copy of my social security card. Ok lost my social security card and will haves to apply for a new one which could take several Weeks..is it legal for this prepaid card comply to hold my money and make me show oroof if id first I need this money now??

You might be able to get a temporary social security card or, perhaps, a tax transcript from the IRS with your social security number on it. The card company is asking for proof to protect you since you are claiming your previous card was stolen (or lost). They want to make sure you are who you claim you are. See if they will expedite processing if you overnight this information to them.
