Legal Question in Business Law in California

Cash give away prize at the event

We areplanning to give away cash (approx. $10 to $20) at wheel of fortune game (spin the wheel and if it stopped on the certain number, you will win the cash). To participate the game, you have to purchase our product (approx.$5.00 each) at least one.

Do you think this kind of cash give away will be permitted in Los Angeles area?

Re: Cash give away prize at the event

You have a whole series of laws, regulations and applications you must comply with before being allowed to conduct such gambling event. You are facing serious criminal and civil penalties if you do this wrong. As proposed, there is no way this is likely to be allowed. Feel free to contact me if serious about doing it right, understanding that you are facing some legal fees that will eat into your revenue.

No. This is illegal. No different than roulette. Think about it.
