I recommend that you talk with others who operate itinerant businesses in California. Likely you will learn more than from most lawyers. My brief research shows that you'll probably have to comply with the business-licensing laws of each and every municipality (city or county) where you transact business, as well as having state licensing with the Board of Equalization. For a typical county ordinance covering licensing of itinerant businesses, take a look at the following Web site: http://www.co.mendocino.ca.us/tax/pdf/BUSINESS LICENSE ORDINANCE - ADOPTED.pdf

I agree with the attorney above. Additionally, I would recommend that you review the local laws governing the cities in which you plan to conduct business in. Each city may have their own local ordinances governing mobile food vendors, and you will be required to meet these rules.

Goodluck!

Best,

Jim
