Does an Attorney have to give an itemized list of his charges

When you pay an attorney to take your case does he need to sign a contract with you?

It's required that an attorney have a retainer agreement if fees will total over $1,000. The attorney should have given you a receipt for cash. Your check or credit card statement will serve as a receipt, as well. It would be prudent for the attorney to elaborate in writing the scope of her services, as well.
